Measurements of Coronal Magnetic Field Strengths in Solar Active Region Loops

چکیده

The characteristic electron densities, temperatures, and thermal distributions of 1 MK active region loops are now fairly well established, but their coronal magnetic field strengths remain undetermined. Here we present measurements from a sample observed by the Extreme-ultraviolet Imaging Spectrometer on Hinode. We use recently developed diagnostic technique that involves atomic radiation modeling contribution magnetically induced transition to Fe x 257.262 Å spectral line intensity. find in range 60–150 G. discuss some aspects these new results context previous using different spectropolarimetric techniques, influence derived Alfvén speeds plasma β loops.

Coronal Magnetic Field Measurements

A long-standing solar problem has been to measure the coronal magnetic field. We believe it determines the coronal structure and dynamics from the upper chromosphere out into the heliospheric environment. It is only recently that Zeeman splitting observations of infrared coronal emission lines have been successfully used to deduce the coronal magnetic flux density. Here we extend this technique...

The Solar Coronal Magnetic Field Measurements With SOLARC

Direct solar coronal magnetic field measurements have become possible since recent development of high-sensitivity infrared detection technology. The SOLARC instrument installed on Mt. Haleakala is such a polarimetric coronagraph that was designed for routinely observing Stokes parameter profiles in near infrared (NIR) wavelengthes. The Fe 1075 nm forbidden coronal emission line (CEL) is potent...

Coronal Magnetic Field Measurements through Gyroresonance Emission

This article reviews the use of gyroresonance emission at radio wavelengths to measure coronal magnetic fields. The spiralling motion of electrons in the 200– 2000 G fields in the solar corona produces sufficient opacity to render the corona optically thick, making it easy to recognize such sources in microwave images from their coronal brightness temperatures. Where gyroresonance sources are p...
